Handbags for Your Sense of Style

Your sense of style is a major factor is what you pick out to wear every day.  The colors, the cuts, the makeup, the jewelry, and the handbags you choose are inherently an extension of your sense of style.  Here are the four basic style categories and what handbags are good for each style.   Some, perhaps most, people are a mixture of styles and may like a variety.  That's okay.  In fact, that’s great because it means you have your own blend of fashionable style.

If you like hearts, ribbons, bows, pinks, and everything classically associated with girls than you probably have a romantic style.  Romantics include celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Jane Seymour, Jaclyn Smith, Scarlett Johansson, and Amy Irving.  Pastels, pinks, mauve, baby blue, ivory, tangerine, lavender, and cream are all preferred by romantics.  Ruffles, florals, and lace are a top choice for handbag embellishments.  Women with a romantic style often enjoy handbags made of velvet, lace, brocades, and embroidered materials.

Perhaps you identify more with celebrities such as Meg Ryan, Sally Field, Helen Hunt, Jane Fonda, Kate Hudson, and Sandra Bullock.  The words people would use to describe you would include “practical, down to earth, and warm.”  Most likely you have a natural style.  This style is very casual, low-maintenance, and comfortable.  Women with a natural style are often drawn to beige, camel, taupe, gray, rust, sage, squash, terra cotta, hunter, and forest green.  Leather, straw, and canvas handbags are often a favorite of this category.  Hobo and messenger bags also fit well with the relaxed, unassuming, and easygoing style.

For those whose ideal is understated elegance, a classic style is the best fit.  Those with a classic style generally prefer neutral, basic colors but occasionally don pastels or brights if they have a classic, timeless cut. Your jewelry is chic and simple, your makeup polished, but light.  Colors you might be attracted to include navy, gray, black, white, cream, and red.  Celebrities who have a classic style include Eva Mendes, Candice Bergen, Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, and Gwyneth Paltrow.  You might want to consider textile choices such as silks, wools, and elegant tweeds for your handbags.

The final style is the dramatic one.  Handbag color choices often include red, purple, metallic, orange, chartreuse, the brighter the color the better for a dramatic.  People often consider them creative, assertive, colorful, and dynamic.  Women with this style usually go for the bags made of suede, leather, patterned pashmina, fur, and beaded materials.  Bold in their style and personality, celebrities with a dramatic style are unforgettable such as Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Cher, Ivana Trump, Charlize Theron.  If you have a dramatic style you can get away with handbag and wardrobe choices that would be horrendous or shocking on others, but look fabulous on you.
