Making your own nursing pads?

I want to sew my own nursing pads. I used the disposable with my daughter and I always hated them...so scratchy.
Anyways, I have a ton of infant prefold diapers that I won't be using this time around (decided on FB diapers & Bum Genius) can I cut those into circles and sew around the edges? Will that be absorbant enough?

It should be. It depends on how much you leak. I know some people just flow, but I barely leaked at all. I loved the Gerber thin pads. they were kind of like the difference between pads and panyliners. But that worked for me, because I had a very "light flow" from the boob. You can also make them from flannel, or cut out several circles and sew them together. Who says you need just one layer?
